ESD Floor Installations

ESD flooring, commonly known as antistatic flooring, is the foundation of any successful ESD control program. In combination with ESD footwear it is the only effective means of grounding operators when away from workstations.

ESD flooring is the largest but most critical investment you will make in achieving ESD compliance, so it is crucial to pick a flooring partner with the necessary knowledge and expertise.

As ESD specialists with over 100 years of combined ESD experience Teknis have leveraged our industry expertise to partner with only the very best ESD flooring manufacturers and fully trained installation teams to ensure compliance and quality in every installation.

We are experienced in supplying flooring to industries including: Electronics, Automotive, Aviation, Defence, Medical, Bio-technology and Data centres. We regularly come up with innovative solutions to complex use cases and applications.

All of our ESD flooring not only meets the requirements of BS EN 61340-5-1:2024 and ANSI ESDS 20:20 but we guarantee it exceeds them with:

  • Resistance to ground (Rg): Below 1x10⁸ Ohms
  • Body voltage generation: Below 100V

Once installed all flooring is tested to these exacting standards and certified by an ESDA qualified technician upon installation.

Additionally, Teknis can offer supply only of premium ESD flooring materials and competitive Trade rates. By partnering with Teknis we will provide free of charge technical support and testing services to ensure you or your client achieve the required ESD specification

ESD Vinyl Tiles & Sheet Flooring

ESD vinyl flooring remains the most widely specified ESD flooring solution across electronics manufacturing and cleanrooms. Available in both tile and sheet format, it provides consistent, reliable electrical performance and long-term durability.

Advantages

  • Proven long-term performance – Homogeneous conductive
    construction ensures stable resistance.
  • Excellent durability – Withstands heavy traffic, carts and production equipment.
  • Seamless sheet option – Ideal for cleanrooms and controlled environments where hygiene is critical.
  • Wide aesthetic choice – Multiple colours and finishes.
  • Low life-cycle cost – Long lifespan when properly maintained.

Considerations

  • Requires professional installation – Subfloor preparation and conductive adhesive are critical.
  • Downtime during installation – Areas must be vacated.
  • Permanent solution – Less flexibility if layouts change frequently.

Best suited for: Permanent EPAs, cleanrooms, high-volume
electronics manufacturing and data centers.

ESD Interlocking Tiles

ESD interlocking tiles provide a modular, fast-install alternative to traditional glued systems. Designed for rapid deployment and minimal disruption, they are ideal for facilities that require flexibility or phased installations.

Advantages

  • Quick installation – Loose lay interlocking design reduces
    downtime.
  • Minimal subfloor preparation – Can often be installed over existing surfaces.
  • Modular and relocatable – Damaged tiles can be replaced individually.
  • Ideal for retrofit projects – Perfect for upgrading existing spaces to EPA standards.

Considerations

  • Visible seams – Not fully seamless like sheet vinyl.
  • Slightly higher initial material cost compared to traditional vinyl.
  • May not suit ultra-clean environments where seamless finishes are required.

Best suited for: Warehousing, temporary EPAs, production
expansion areas and facilities requiring flexibility.

ESD Paints & Resin Systems

Conductive paints and resin coatings offer a seamless, hard-wearing antistatic finish bonded directly to the subfloor. These systems are particularly popular in heavy-duty industrial environments.

Advantages

  • Seamless finish – Excellent for hygiene and easy cleaning.
  • High mechanical strength – Resistant to chemicals, abrasion and heavy loads.
  • Efficient coverage of large areas.
Customisable finishes – Slip-resistant or decorative options available.

Considerations

  • Surface preparation is critical – Substrate condition directly impacts performance.
  • Longer curing times – May require planned shutdown periods.
  • Permanent installation – Difficult to modify once installed.

Best suited for: Automotive, aerospace, defence manufacturing and heavy industrial EPAs.

ESD Raised Access Flooring

Raised access flooring systems incorporate conductive or static dissipative panels mounted on a pedestal grid system, creating an
underfloor void for cable management, airflow and services. These systems are widely used in data centers, control rooms and advanced manufacturing facilities.

Advantages

  • Integrated cable management – Power & data infrastructure routed beneath the floor.
  • Excellent for data centers – Supports airflow and cooling.
  • Easy access to services for maintenance or reconfiguration.
  • Long-term scalability – Ideal for evolving technical environments.
  • High load ratings available for heavy equipment.

Considerations

  • Higher initial investment
  • Requires structural planning – Floor height and load calculations must be assessed.
  • More complex installation – Requires experienced raised floor specialists.

Best suited for: Data centres, test facilities, control rooms, high-spec manufacturing environments.
